Show Sugi Ban is an ancient wood burning technology originating in Japan. This natural and environmentally friendly method of wood treatment not only protects the wood from the effects of mold, insects, fire, but also reveals the special texture and pattern of each tree. The wood is fired, cooled, then the resulting thin layer of charcoal is cleaned and natural oil is applied. The result exceeds expectations because of its unique and never repeating texture, as no two trees in the world are the same.
